The visor is movable and can be flipped up over the helmet. Whether up or down, the visor can be locked in place with a pin-and-chain. The visor has two rectangular eye-slits, flat nose and a large Maltese-Cross breathing-hole. Wrought to follow the shape of the head and reinforced with a low crest from forehead to neck, the helmet is elegant while still being comfortable to wear.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe helmet gives full protection to head except at the throat. The Barbuta was used mainly by the flamboyant Italian mercenaries of the renaissance and was favoured with light troops for the mix of protection and excellent visibility.
